There was once Maple: a quiet and conservative Anglo-Saxon village with five churches of different Protestant denominations. A small terrestrial heaven where respect and life flowed peacefully and happily.
In the Autumn, falling leaves from the many secular trees which lined either side of Keele Street presented a magnificent and colourful spectacle to anyone driving north on the street.
The 1980’s transformed the peaceful village on the outskirts of Metropolitan Toronto. Cranes, excavating machines, an army of construction workers, all invaded the village and gave rise to new housing developments. First to the northwest of Keele Street, then to the southeast and to the southwest of the village, the construction activities took on an incessant rhythm, even now as we write, housing and building developments continue in many areas..
