..... December 2, 1990

The first few days in December 1990 were hectic, but December 2nd was a happy day. After the 11:30 a.m. Mass, Bishop Robert Clune climbed with the clergy into a white limousine, heading for Major Mackenzie Drive where a large  crowd of people including local political representatives, the late Mayor Lorna Jackson, Peter Meffe, Michael Di Biase, and others were waiting.

The Mayor, and other Building Committee Members, Joe Appugliesi, Tony Guglietti, JoePichini, Pat Corsetti
and Maria Conte, took turns, shovel in hand for the symbolic sod-turning ceremony with the blessing of the Bishop. Construction began the following year.
Mr. John Scaini became President of the Parish Council. Jasper Construction started building in the Spring of 1991.

April 5th 1992 was the Opening Day of the church, even if the altar, and other structures around it were still missing.

In the preceding week, the three Catholic schools of Maple gave homage to the Holy Virgin Mary. The beautiful ligneous statue of Our Lady of Peace, departing from the school that bears her name, was venerated by the students and on Friday April 3rd, the statue arrived at St. David's School.

The evening of Saturday April 4th was dedicated to those who brought the Holy Virgin to the church. It was a very emotional and happy evening.

June 14, 1992

It seemed like a miracle: it rained the first week: rained on Monday the 15th, but on the 14th the sun stood high in the sky for the joy of all in our parish.
The women continued with their tireless preparations. There was food for all under the two big white and yellow tents, prepared on the grounds close to the new church.

The consecration of the church was a unique event prepared in one week of preaching by Rev. Franco Givone, Manager of Missionary Relations of the Episcopal Italian Conference and by Rev. Gian Lucio Borean, Pastor of St. Peter's Parish in Woodbridge.

For over 3 weeks, the Italian nuns of the City of Toronto went door to door in Maple, visiting families and inviting them to participate in the preaching.

Mario Ferri, Catholic School Board Trustee, was appointed by Fr. Pollo to the general organization of the ceremony under the direction of Monsignor McCormack. At precisely 3:30 pm., Provincial Authorities arrived and were individually introduced by Mario Ferri, master of ceremonies.

At 4:00 pm. the clergy with hius Grace Aloysius Ambrozic entered the church greeted by the choir singing ''Ecce Sacerdos Magnus', by Perosi. Angelo Oddi, a young composer and organist, directed the three united Parish Choirs for the occasion, 34 other priests and invited guests sat with the Archbishop to witness the occasion.

The significant ceremonies were presented to the public in a most elegant yet simple manner. A parishioner told Rev. Evasio a week after the consecration: ''1 have followed closely the consecration of the church', it seemed I was watching the arrival of God in our church through the gestures and the prayers of the Archbishop.''
